Paul Rodgers has announced that he will be heading out across the UK this May on the ‘FREE Spirit’ Tour performing songs strictly from the Free catalogue. The tour will culminate with a show at the famed Royal Albert Hall in London.
On the subject of performing songs from Free’s renowned back catalogue and why the decision was made to name the tour the ‘FREE Spirit’ Tour, Paul Rodgers had the following to say:
“It was 50 years ago in 1967 when Paul Kossoff and I met and later formed Free. We first jammed together at the Fickle Pickle Blues Club in Finsbury Park, we wanted exactly that, to be free to play the music that we loved, blues and beyond. We knew we had something special between us when people told us that when we played time stood still. He brought in the rhythm section, Simon Kirke from his band The Black Cat Bones and found the advertisement at the Nags Head Battersea for a “Bass player ex-John Mayall looking for a gig” Andy Fraser.
Paul’s 67th Birthday is December 17th.
So, for the man who has everything, I thought that we could surprise him by trying to raise £67,000 for Willows Animals.
Paul is a very active Patron of Willows Animal Sanctuary & Assisted Therapy Unit, that employs vulnerable people who at any one time, care for more than 300 of the 1000s of vulnerable animals that Willows has rescued over the years.
All donations, large & small, will be so gratefully received and donations of £20 or more, will be entered into a draw to receive one of 67 Paul Rodgers Autographed items, on Paul’s 67th birthday, 17 December, 2016. Please mention ‘PR67’.
Thanks for being a part of this and what a brilliant surprise this will be for him. Love…Cynthia Rodgers

“This Place Called Home” is a song celebrating the heritage of the working man, the father and son who for generations have proudly contributed to some of the world’s greatest industrial wonders. Featuring Paul Rodgers and his son Steve. This is their first recording together as father and son. All proceeds from the single will be donated to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Middlesbrough.
Paul originally hails from Teeside an area recently affected by the closure of the large Steel plant at Redcar. In light of these recent events here in the UK, this song is a tribute to the millions of men who have worked in the Steel Industry.
“We can’t stop progress but this song marks the passage of the steelworks where my father worked. My wife Cynthia suggested that I sing it as a duet with my son Steve which is particularly poignant.” Paul Rodgers
Bad Company will have a new guest guitarist with them for their upcoming summer tour: Rich Robinson. As the co-founding member of The Black Crowes, Rich has released four solo albums and has a new album titled Flux due in June.
“I’ve decided to sit this upcoming US tour out,” guitarist Mick Ralphs commented. “The travel required to do these dates is something I’m just not feeling up for at the moment. I’m glad the band found Rich to take my place for this run, I’m sure he’ll be great. See you all again soon. Much love to Paul and Simon, and love to all our fans for supporting us over the years Thanks.” Read more →
