BAD COMPANY AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD ANNOUCE SUMMER CO-HEADLINE TOUR
BAD COMPANY AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD ANNOUNCE 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION SUMMER CO-HEADLINE TOUR OF 12 DATES Both Bands Will Supplement This Joint Excursion With Individual Headline Dates
New York --- Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced a co-headline tour that takes the bands coast-to-coast for 12 dates. Both bands celebrate significant 40th anniversaries in 2013, with Lynyrd Skynyrd having released their debut album on August 13, 1973 and Bad Company being formed that same year. While the pair have shared the stage and Paul Rodgers has toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company and Skynyrd have never toured as co-headliners together.
Bad Company were dubbed a super-group upon the band's formation due to the union of Free's Paul Rodgers (Vocals / Multi-Instrumentalist) with Mott The Hoople's Mick Ralphs (Guitar) plus King Crimson's Boz Burrell (Bass) and Free's Simon Kirke (Drums). Over the next nine years, the band released a string of six albums, yielding international hits "Can't Get Enough," "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love," and many others penned by the main songwriters Paul Rodgers and Mick Ralphs. Original members Rodgers, Ralphs, and Kirke will be joined by guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning (from Paul Rodgers solo band). Original bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006.
Bad Company has inspired many of today's musicians. Most notably, Metal band Five Finger Death Punch who scored a #1 Active Rock hit with a cover of the song "Bad Company". Since 2001, the band has only played 11 isolated performances, and has not staged a tour of The United States until now. In front of the run, Rodgers shares, "When Mick and I formed the band in the 70's we were amazed at the instant success. It didn't hurt to have Led Zeppelin behind us, and we wrote some decent songs that still resonate. This one is for fans."
Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd has maintained a tremendous legacy that began over 40 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and continues with the recently released Last Of A Dying Breed(Roadrunner). The band's career was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, and then subsequently faced adversity through the losses of Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on. With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations. The current line-up features Gary Rossington (Guitar), Johnny Van Zant (Vocals), Rickey Medlocke (Guitar), Mark "Sparky" atejka (Guitar), Michael Cartellone (Drums), Johnny Colt (Bass), Peter Keys (Keyboards), Dale Krantz Rossington- Honkettes (Backing Vocals) and Carol Chase-Honkettes (Backing Vocals).
Paul Rodgers reveals, "The Skynyrds and I go back to the 70's and the days and nights at the Hyatt House on Sunset in LA aka the Riot House. In the 90's the band introduced me to my wife Cynthia, and that's why I am so damned happy and healthy these years." Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant offers, "Every member of Skynyrd has been fans of Bad Company from the get go. Personally, Paul is one of my favorite rock singers. We have a deep appreciation for Bad Company’s music and look forward to being on the road with them and sharing the stage.”
Special guests and Kentucky-bred hard rockers, Black Stone Cherry, will be kicking things off on The 40 Tour. Their music has been described as Southern-fried hard rock about everything from being proud of where you come from and true to who you are.
The co-headline tour will stage performances at the following venues:

Paul Rodgers and Cynthia Rodgers have become Patrons of Willows Animal Sanctuary in Aberdeen, Scotland at a crucial time.

Willows Animal Sanctuary is the largest sanctuary in Aberdeenshire and will try to help any animal in distress. We operate a strict no kill policy and only euthanise an animal on veterinary advice. We look after over 300 animals including more than 60 horses, ponies and donkeys, approximately 60 cats and dogs and many reptiles as well as over 100 farm animals and birds. We are totally dependent on donations, legacies and grants from benevolent organizations to keep the sanctuary running. Unlike larger charities we have no reserves of money and are desperately short of funds. We specialise in helping elderly or more vulnerable animals that have already been refused help by well known large national charities, but we can only continue to help needy animals with your support!
Animal Assisted Therapy
Willows helps many vulnerable people with its animal assisted therapy programme. The concept of allowing rescued animals to help vulnerable people on the road back to health is very innovative and has been independently evaluated and shown to be highly beneficial.

BAD CO LIVE AT WEMBLEY NOW AVAILABLE IN STORES AND ONLINE
Available now! "Bad Company Live At Wembley" on DVD, Blu-Ray and CD
When legendary classic rockers Bad Company performed at the historic British venue Wembley Arena in London on a beautiful April 2010 spring night, high-definition cameras captured the whole evening in all its glory.
There was magic in the air as all three original Bad Company members - vocalist extraordinaire Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke - are augmented by bassist Lynn Sorensen and guitarist Howard Leese. (Original bassist Boz Burrell died in 2006.)
The set list is packed with every major hit, fan favorites and seldom-heard deep album cuts. The DVD and Blu-Ray includes a band interview.
Bad Company burst upon the rock'n'roll scene in 1973, and was immediately dubbed a super-group by fans and press alike, as its members all came from very successful popular bands: Free (Rodgers and Kirke), Mott The Hoople (Ralphs) and King Crimson (Burrell). They lived up to the hype for nine straight years with a string of six soulful hard-rocking albums. After a break they reformed in 1999.

BB King, Paul Rodgers & more on new Paul McCartney tribute album
It's fair to say Paul McCartney has had a few tributes in his time, and there's news that another one is on the way.
The Sun reports McCartney is making a new album featuring covers of his own solo material and Wings tracks.
McCartney hand-picked the artists himself, including KISS, The Cure, B.B. King, Paul Rodgers, Billy Joel and Garth Brooks.
It's partly a family affair, as Paul's son, James, will be on the record doing a song with The Cure.
"James was over the moon at playing with The Cure," a source told The Sun. "He's always been a big fan. They all went into a studio in Sussex and hung out together."
Sir Paul is thrilled about it. "Over the years, Robert Smith and Macca's paths have crossed countless times and he is chuffed having The Cure pay tribute to him," stated the source.
A full song/artist list has not been announced, but we know KISS have already recorded their version of "Venus And Mars/Rock Show" for the set, as KISS told fans via Facebook last August:
"After being invited, we chose and sang Venus and Mars/Rockshow for the McCartney tribute album. Other performers include Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, BB King and Paul Rodgers. The backing tracks were all recorded by Paul McCartney's touring band. We consider it an honor to be asked to participate on a tribute to one of the most influential and greatest singer/songwriters of all time. Not to mention, a major force in the most important band of all time, The Beatles. Wow!"

LED ZEPPELIN - JOHN BONHAM'S MOTHER HAS PASSED
Sad news from the Led Zeppelin camp today.
Joan Bonham, mother to John, Mick and Deborah Bonham, died early morning today (February 09, 2011) at the age of 81, after battling an illness since Christmas.
She was preceeded in death by her husband John Henry Sr. (Jack) in 1998, son John Henry Jr. in 1980 and Michael (Mick) Bonham in 2000.
Achilles Last Stand – The Led Zeppelin website reports Joan was a musician just like her children, John and Deborah; Joan was a singer, most notably one of the principal lead vocalists of The Zimmers, a 40-piece British band originally created by BBC television for a 2007 feature documentary on the conditions and feelings of the elderly, as part of the Power to the People series.
In September 2008, the band released its first full-length album "Lust for Life."
Joan was also a fan of big band music, such as the Benny Goodman, and Harry James bands. She also ran a news agency business in Hunt End, Redditch, Worcestershire, England.
One of her most last notable appearances was on November 02, 2009, accompanied by daughter Deborah, to accept the Tommy Vance Inspiration Award at the Classic Rock Awards Ceremony from Paul Rodgers at the Park Lane Hotel, London, England

GARY MOORE 1952 - 2011
"Gary was a friend and a truly great man.I respect that he played the game his way...no time for BS. He was focused and passionate about music and was one of the best. The last time that I jammed with Gary he came on as my Special Guest at London's Royal Albert Hall and proceeded to take it to another level ...the place imploded! When he played he was a man on fire.If there hadn't been an ocean between us and Gary didn't mind flying we absolutely would have created more together. We've lost a great British blues man and I am very, very sad." PAUL RODGERS
